Perth in 10 restaurants

September 21, 2007

It’s not about the best places, but more about the places I like.

1. Stuccio

The best pizza I’ve ever eaten. Very different then the usual pizza, You must try the one with rocket topping.

2. Jaws sushi

There is 3 Jaw’s in town, the one at Mayer’s west entrance is specialized in cones, they are just delicious and affordable. The second one is located in the end of Hay st. mall (west). This one has a sushi train, after 15h30 is happy hour, 30% off & a free miso soup. You can enjoy the “all you can eat” buffet from 17h to 20h30 every Saturday (around 22$).

3. HanaBBQ

I really loved that Korean buffet, no time limit, only $30. There is huge choice of meat and side dishes, as well as rice, kimbap and pajan enjoy. If you have ever been to a korean restaurant you wont be surpirse by the BBQ grill in the middle of the table.

4. The sandwich place on William st.

I don’t know the name of that place, but on the corner of William st. and Murray st. there is a great sandwich shop. You can ask for a custom sandwich or choose on in the fridge. All there product are really fresh. They also have a big choice of pies, sausage roll and other kind of pastries.

5. Tookbegi

Tookbegi is a nice and little Korean restaurant on pier st. Between Hay st. and Murray street. The food is really nice and not too expensive.

6. Jade Sea food restaurant

If you like dim sum, it’s the place to go. But you’ll have to go there for lunch hour. At night they don’t serve dim sum. Just one advise make sure you know the price of what you get.

7. koinonia

Try koinonia in mt Lawley and enjoy some tasty asian fusion food. It’s the kind of restaurant I’d like in my street.

8. Park BBQ

I know, I know, it’s not a restaurant we are talking about. But in almost every park around perth, you can find electric BBQ places. I’ts just amazing and so conveniant, all you need is some food to grill, a bit of veggies and whatever you like for BBQ, and lets go to the Park. Ho, don’t forget to bring some aluminum fold, some are a bit dirty. I can’t believe that in Switzerland we still need to lit a fire.

9. Miss maude Buffet

I’ve never been there… Ok, next week maybe!

10. Home

Just eat at home, you’ll save some money. you’ll take me later.

Remember I told you that I couldn’t run games in full 3d on Ubuntu and that compiz fusion wasn’t working for the same reason. Well I found the way to install the drivers for my ati radeon 9600 M10 properly on the atiwiki page.

Now games are runing fine and I can run compiz fusion. Ahahah finaly. If you’re wondering how to install compizF. Follow the howto guide on Forlong’s blog, it’s very well explained. Then have a look at the setting page as well. Also have a look on the official compiz-fusion website.

PSP update 3.70 brings me what I was waiting for.

September 14, 2007

Finally that’s it, I can listen to music on my PSP, and read comic books or see pictures at the same times!! I’m really happy, so it’s time to give you a few link to get free comics books psp format.

Hitless is a must have for you PSP, the website is really amazing and you can download the 2 issues of their comic book for free. More to come, I hope so!

Another famous one, is NYC2123 Dayender a futuristic graphic novel that will remind you Frank Miller’s Sin city. Also a must have, must read!!!

Also you should be able to download a few manga there.

Custom themes for your PSP

The other important feature added with the 3.70 update is the theme customization. You can now download themes on the internet and put them in your psp. You can read a how to guide here. If your too lazy to read it, just go there and download the theme you want. Then just paste the .ptf file into a new folder you’ll name “THEME” in the “PSP” folder.

Vancouver I miss you

September 11, 2007

A little bit of my heart stayed in Vancouver when I left last year. I lived there for almost one year and had an amazing time, I had the chance to live downtown and therefore be close to everything! The supermarket was right on the corner, across the supermarket was the cinema. I was surrounded by more then 50 restaurant and shops. some open 24/7!!!! Some may laugh! but were I come from it doesn’t work like that.

In Switzerland I live in the countryside I have to take a car or ride a bus for 20 minutes to get to the first town, the closest village is 5 minutes away by car. You can forget about a restaurant or a shop open 24/7.

Well Vancouver was really great and I will go back there as soon as I can.

But before that I want to let you know about a few place you must visit when you are there.

First go all around downtown! Visit Chinatown, go on Granville street, Davie st, Dennman st and on Robson (and go up in the revolving restaurant for the sunset). Have a look at Yale town, English bay then to Stanley park and See Granville island. Take the skytrain and visit metrotown (just for the headache) also get of at commercial and walk north for shopping and food. Go to Kitsilano and walk on W 4th avenue. From Chinatown or Main street station Take the bus number 3 and get off on Broadway then walk south for cloth shopping.

On main street you should shop at dadabase, motherland, don’t miss voltageland and many more.

If you’re moving in, you are certainly looking for cheap stuff, Daiso is the best two dollars shop in Vancouver (Richmond). Between May and October go to the Chinese night market held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

ReCharge green-concept car from volvo

September 10, 2007

Look at this neat green-concept car from Volvo! Fully charged in three hours by plugging it to a common eclectic socket, you will be able to drive 100km. Then once you’ve used more then 70% of the battery, the flexifuel engine kicks off for the rest of your journey.

When used the correct way, the ReCharge will use 66% less then the actual hybrid cars. If you drive less then 100km a day you’ll save up to 80% on your gas bill! Not bad.

Price???? Dates???? I don’t know. At least it makes me dream!!!
