A little bit of my heart stayed in Vancouver when I left last year. I lived there for almost one year and had an amazing time, I had the chance to live downtown and therefore be close to everything! The supermarket was right on the corner, across the supermarket was the cinema. I was surrounded by more then 50 restaurant and shops. some open 24/7!!!! Some may laugh! but were I come from it doesn’t work like that.
In Switzerland I live in the countryside I have to take a car or ride a bus for 20 minutes to get to the first town, the closest village is 5 minutes away by car. You can forget about a restaurant or a shop open 24/7.
Well Vancouver was really great and I will go back there as soon as I can.
But before that I want to let you know about a few place you must visit when you are there.
First go all around downtown! Visit Chinatown, go on Granville street, Davie st, Dennman st and on Robson (and go up in the revolving restaurant for the sunset). Have a look at Yale town, English bay then to Stanley park and See Granville island. Take the skytrain and visit metrotown (just for the headache) also get of at commercial and walk north for shopping and food. Go to Kitsilano and walk on W 4th avenue. From Chinatown or Main street station Take the bus number 3 and get off on Broadway then walk south for cloth shopping.
If you’re moving in, you are certainly looking for cheap stuff, Daiso is the best two dollars shop in Vancouver (Richmond). Between May and October go to the Chinese night market held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
